There was more exploration on “Tricky Tricky” and “This Must Be It”. Both songs are sung by Karin Dreijer Andersson of iconoclastic Swedish techno-art brother-sister duo “The Knife”. She previously sang with Röyksopp on “What Else Is There” (on “The Understanding”). ‘Because the art and the craftsmanship are two opposing poles, a struggle within a struggle', Torbjørn explains, 'we had to weed out any potential mental friction, and invite ferociousness to the table.’

The album will follow up their well received 2006 debut Dreams, and takes its title due to the fact that each and every track describes a different rule. No word yet if one of those rules is "make a hit single," but we do know that according to the band that this time around they've taken a more organic approach to recording, with all of the tracks being recorded live with no overdubs or additional effects.

三年前的『Dreams』是Erlend Øye 脫離Kings of Convenience成功單飛自立門戶後，以The Whitest Boy Alive名義推出的首作；起初還一度以為這個團體、Project會否只是Erlend Øye的臨時組合，想必於一陣激烈嘶吼後便壯烈犧牲，沒想到下個月要推出第二張大碟『Rules』了。對我而言，The Whitest Boy Alive已不是一支來自北歐的樂隊，僅僅是Erlend Øye過去在Kings of Convenience的身份；畢竟現在他待在柏林的時間恐怕比自己的家鄉要來的更多。言歸正傳，大致上聽過的人都認為『Rules』實在比『Dreams』更加電味、更像是一張跳舞唱片；而其實不如形容是更節奏化與旋律化，吉他聲浪也從當時的爆炸性轉為較肥沃聲線的節奏性彈奏，唯一不變的是Erlend Øye叫人熟悉的嗓音。盼不到Kings of Convenience的歸來，倒是盼到了The Whitest Boy Alive愈發沉穩之創作，算是勉強可以接受的結果。

今天要推薦一個挪威首府奧斯陸的新銳音樂廠牌Trust Me給各位；一來是先前無意間聽見了ADJAGAS的專輯「Adjagas」，之後又非常喜愛Rockettothesky這支有點Shoegaze、有點電子的女聲團體，今天Trust Me又簽下了一支18歲的少男團體Monomen，作為本年度最重要的一枚秘密武器，情況可比去年Smalltown Supersound簽下了120 Days。挪威近年逐漸成為北歐音樂輸出的新指標，還不獨是國內發展景像蓬勃的爵士音樂，諸如Smalltown Supersound、Trust Me這些特色品牌也逐漸受到英美市場的認可與青睞；去年一整年廣受討論與好評的120 Days成功地打響了北歐獨立搖滾音樂的名號，而本年度個人認為Monomen會是後繼之秀，Trust Me這家獨立廠牌或許也因此該受到更多的關注與報導。Monomen整體的音色令人聯想起Kraftwerk與Depeche Mode等人獨善的Synthesizer化風骨，其綿密的Bassline亦可直追New Order與Joy Division，清爽的吉他則有Slowdive的如癡如幻叫人無限著迷。此外，26歲來自挪威Tvedestrand的Jenny Hval化身為Rockettothesky，則帶來猶如Cocteau Twins般的空靈民謠曲風，去年專輯「To Sing You Apple Trees」可說是一張結合美洲與北歐神秘民謠的動人之作。然而Trust Me幕後的老闆Marit Karlsen，曾經於1993 - 2003年間在當地的電台NRK P3從事音樂記者等工作，如今依舊獨自經營著這家位於奧斯陸的新銳音樂廠牌。

一隊來自挪威斯塔萬格(Stavanger)的Dream Pop吉他音樂組合，隱身於Beautifulmemorieslastyourwholelifelong這個名字背後的，其實是一位名喚Frode Johannessen的年青創作者；同時身兼Popface樂隊的主要成員。沉長的樂隊名字加深了自己對他們的印象，聽聞過Myspace上三首作品Sometime in September、If I Ever以及Holding Breath之後，則叫人憶起了My Bloody Valentine、Ride甚至Coldplay等樂隊的身影；首張個人大碟引頸期待。

眼尖的朋友可能為發覺到Deaf Center這張英國處男EP唱片「Neon City」再度受到權威音樂雜誌WIRE青睞，評選為年度最佳「電子音樂」專輯之一。對自己而言，Deaf Center的音樂不只是一種聲音上的情緒表達，那更是通往挪威險峻地理環境與自然景觀的孤高雕塑之作。三年前有幸為「Neon City」專輯擔任中文側標文字創作，繼而深入了解以Erik Skodvin與Otto Totland為首的Deaf Center，是如何沉穩地捕捉住Synthesis與Piano所能表達與突顯的冷峻與澄澈音色。他們甚至被認為是受到Yann Tiersen與Cliff Martinez等人之電影配樂的影響，以及巧妙揉合Autechre的glitch pop風采。事隔三年，在一個陰霾的午后，我仍繼續透過「Neon City」的引領來尋找模糊印象中，北國挪威的線條與輪廓。

雖然在「好自在」(Kings Of Convenience)裡頭，個人比較欣賞Eirik Glambek Bøe；顯然也是因為Eirik的歌聲出眾、彈得一手好吉他，並且符合Acoustic-Based的形象。但隨著Kings Of Convenience停工的日子裡頭，Eirik過著他閒雲野鶴的日子而完全消聲匿跡時，Erlend Øye卻首先跳出來發表個人專輯「Unrest」大玩Electro-Pop路線；日後也因為他隻身離開家鄉卑爾根前往德國柏林發展，才誕生了那張叫自己愛不釋手的DJ-Kicks作品。總之，我不再低估Erlend Øye戴著眼鏡笨拙的模樣。

兩年前，Hanne Hukkelberg找來了同鄉樂隊The Shining成員Kåre Chr. Vestrheim連袂打造了首張專輯「Little Things」；從小女子的呢喃自吟、古典與輕爵士的雅致，再到令人疼惜的女性纖弱與委婉，「Little Things」是那一年非常值得討論的唱片，尤其是來自挪威奧斯陸。
