This song was published in 1844 with the title Lubly Fan. It was written by one of the first black-faced minstrels, Cool White (John Hodges). Allen and John Lomax believe it was a traditional tune, known before Cool White published the music. It was popular in minstrel shows throughout the United States and the location was changed accordingly to New York Gals, Charleston Gals, etc. Buffalo, therefore, refers to the city rather than the animal.

In Collection of North Carolina Folklore, Frank Brown suggests it may have its inspiration from an English singing game, Pray, Pretty Miss and that the tune is close to that of an old German music hall song, Im Grunewald, im Grunewald ist Holzauktion. Other scholars have suggested the song originated around the Erie Canal.

The song was also a hit in 1944 as Dance with Dolly.

There’s nothing more unique than a fingerprint and nothing more special than preserving a child’s tiny fingers and hands for posterity. Mom will love and cherish these adorable cards made by little hands.

Age
3 and up

This project is rated AVERAGE to do.

What You Need

  • Construction paper
  • Acrylic paints
  • Crayon or marker
  • Small paint brush

What you do

For smaller cards, cut construction paper in half. For larger cards, leave as is. Fold construction paper in half to create a card.
 
Flower Card
  1. Use acrylic craft paints to paint a child’s pointing finger. Use this for the center dot of each flower. We used pink, blue and purple for our centers.
  2. To make the petals, paint the thumb first, apply it to the paper. Next paint the pointing finger and apply it to the paper. Repeat this process for each finger so that there is a different finger for each petal. Repeat for each flower
  3. Use a small paint brush to add the stem, then use child’s thumb to create the leaves.

Heart card

  1. To make the heart card, begin by very lightly drawing a simple heart onto the construction paper.
  2. Next, squirt out some paint onto newspaper or paper plate. Have child dip the tips of their fingers into the paint and press onto construction paper following the heart shape. Use a contrasting color to fill in the heart.
  3. Use crayon or marker to write “Happy Mother’s Day” on the card.

Love card

  • For the “love” card, have child hold their right hand in the shape of an “L”. Be sure it is their right hand and not the left. Paint the “L” shape portion of their hand and help them to press it onto the paper.
  • Have the child make an “O” shape with their hand, paint it, then press to the paper.
  • Paint the child’s pointing and middle finger for the “V” and press onto the paper.
  • Using the child’s pointing finger, paint then press to the paper for the long side of the “E”. Paint the top part of their pointing finger to add the horizontal lines of the “E”.
  • Use a crayon or marker to write “Mom is” above the word “Love”.

 Helpful hints

  • Have a damp washcloth handy to wipe off excess paint from child’s hands when changing colors. When finished with this project, have child wash hands with soap and water.
  • Get creative and use whatever colors you like. Just remember to use colors that contrast with your construction paper to be sure it shows up well.
  • You may want to have the child write their personal message inside the card before starting the paint process. It can be done afterward, but if done before there’s no risk of accidentally messing up these cute creations.

It's a poem with a handprint and an optional photo of the baby/preschooler.

This project is rated EASY to do.

What You Need
 

  • Small child in play clothing.
  • Print out of handprint poem (make extra copies).
  • Optional small photo of child.
  • Water based paints - finger paints or tempera paints.
  • Bowl or something to hold the paint.
  • Brush or sponge to apply paint to child's hand.
  • Paper towels or some other way to do a quick cleanup!

 
How To Make It
 
Here's the poem for you to copy, format and print in your favorite word processor, or you can print out this version :
    Sometimes you get discouraged
    Because I am so small
    And always leave my fingerprints
    On furniture and walls

    But every day I'm growing --
    I'll be grown some day

What to do:

 

  1. Print the poem (make extra copies).
  2. Apply the paint to the child's hand, then press their hand to the paper near the poem. This might take several attempts to get a good print, patience is the key.
  3. Clean that little hand, before you get handprinted, too!
  4. Personalize with the date and name (if it isn't already).
  5. Let dry, then glue on a photo, if desired.

What you Need:

  • Poster Board
  • Scissors
  • Sticky backed magnet
  • Poster paint and a paint brush
  • Black permanent marker

What you do:

  1. Paint your right hand with poster paint and make a handprint on the poster board.  Do the same thing with your left hand.  Let the prints dry.
  2. Cut around the outside of both handprints.
  3. Write the possessive form of your name on one hand and something like "work" or "masterpiece" on the other hand.
  4. Put a piece of sticky-backed magnet on the back of each hand.
  5. Put these handprints on your refrigerator to hold up your school and art work for all to appreciate.

長久以來，「背著書包上學去！」代表一個孩子進入另一個成長階段，可以走出家庭、步入學校。然而，如今「入學」不再是定律，強調多元、自由的台灣社會，已允許孩子在家自學，「家庭即學校」的時代已然來臨！ 

台北市溫州街巷弄中，全職媽媽呂基華正帶著孩子們朗誦莊子〈逍遙遊〉，小自兩三歲，大至十餘歲的十幾個孩子，看似「有口無心」地大聲唸著：「北冥有魚，其名為鯤……」，黑板上寫著他們今天的課程還有論語、唐詩、英文聖經。 

苗栗頭份鄉下，陳謝祺的牙醫診所中偶有病人上門看診，但大部分時間裡，診所傳出的不是刺耳的機器鑽牙聲，而是八歲半女孩陳宥瑄的琅琅讀書聲，「現在我的收入減半，全心放在孩子身上，」陳謝祺說。 

現在不是寒暑假，這些孩子卻不必像一般學齡兒童「背著書包上學去」，而是在家接受「非學校型態實驗教育」，也就是俗稱的「在家自學」。 

根據「中華基督教慕真在家教育協會」的統計，目前全台在家實施「非學校型態實驗教育」的孩子將近有兩百人。他們之所以能在家自學，除了有「與眾不同」的父母外，還拜法令鬆綁之賜。 

台灣的義務教育始於一九四三年，光復後，為了確保每個國民都能受國民教育，在民國三十六年頒訂「台灣省學齡兒童強迫入學辦法」，民國七十一年頒訂「強迫入學條例」。 

不再強迫入學 

隨著時代進步，教育多元化呼聲不斷，教育政策也逐漸鬆綁。民國八十八年修正的「國民教育法」第四條明定：「為保障學生的學習權，國民教育階段得辦理非學校型態之實驗教育。」同年六月公佈實施的「教育基本法」第八條更明確指出：「國民教育階段內，父母負有輔導子女之責任；並得為其子女之最佳福祉，依法律選擇受教育之方式、內容及參與學校教育事務之權利。」從此，在家自學正式合法化，選擇在家教育的人數也逐漸增加。以申請人數最多的台北市為例，今年申請案件就增至八十八件。 

其實，早在「教育基本法」通過實施前，台北市已首開先例試辦「在家自行教育」。民國八十三年，在台北市政府舉辦市長「與民有約」時，幾位家長提出一份在家自學的請願書：「我們是一群為了親自教養下一代而放下工作的全職母親，即將面臨孩子入學年齡。但是目前社會風氣敗壞，連帶學校風氣敗壞，已經嚴重影響學齡兒童求學的環境。譬如，小學裡充斥著電動玩具、金錢交易、暴力、勒索、結黨、炫耀、色情漫畫，我們的子弟在這樣的環境中，能不受感染而潔身自愛，實在難上加難……」。在北市教育局邀請學者專家討論研究後，台北市在八十六學年度開始試辦「在家自行教育」。 

我的孩子不上學！ 

事實上，在家教育在美、英、紐西蘭、澳洲等國已行之有年。十八、九世紀，西方國家為了厚植國力，開始實施義務教育，但學校教育卻出現許多弊病。 

台北市立師範學院國民教育研究所助理教授鄭玉卿指出，一九六○年代西方盛行主智主義，學校為提升學術水準，重視學習效率，反倒造成戕害學生自發性、好奇心、創造力，與壓抑學生學習興趣、貶抑兒童自尊及人格發展的不良後果，於是許多父母拒絕讓孩子上學。 

台北市立師範學院國民教育研究所教授林天佑指出，美國最早提出在家教育的主要理由是基於宗教因素，家長對公立學校無法提供適當的宗教及心靈教育感到不滿。後來，越來越多人因為校園暴力事件、教育品質低落、學生學習壓力等因素，決定讓孩子在家教育。經過爭取，在家教育在美國各州紛紛合法化，並已成為眾所周知的另類教育模式。 

根據高雄師範大學教育系副教授楊巧玲的研究顯示，在家自行教育已成了美國近年快速成長的改革運動。一九九三年，在家教育在美國五十州都已合法，人數也與日俱增，從一九九○年的三十萬人，增加到一九九九年的一百五十萬人，約佔學齡人口的百分之二。 

我國自民國五十七年開始實施「九年國民義務教育」，到學校受教育是每個孩子應享的權利，也是應盡的義務。台灣的爸爸媽媽為什麼又要放棄孩子的權利義務，選擇讓孩子在家念「私塾」呢？ 

「西哲湯恩比直言，唯孔孟學說與大乘佛法能解決二十一世紀的問題……。在科學的時代，以人倫教育施於少年，養蒙以正，養正以德，似為當務……。中土教育理論之正確性、易行性，古典教材之優越性、包容性，深度廣度兼具……。請成全後學『拾古傳家』之志……」以上洋洋灑灑、言之成理的內容，出現在牙醫師陳謝祺為女兒提出的在家自學申請書中。

救救學校教育 

陳謝祺曾經上書教育局長、立法委員，希望推動在小學成立「國學實驗班」，但都未能如願。 

「窮則獨善其身，無法改變學校體制，只能在家自己教育孩子，」他強調，「糊里糊塗也就罷了，但既已知道了它的好處，就非走這條路不可！」他說。 

「為了圓一個教育的夢，」師大附中國文教師高瑋謙讓小學四年級的兒子高存誠在家自學。他說，希望孩子能在一個沒有壓力的情境下，自主而快樂的學習，成為品格端正而富有文化教養，懂得尊重、感恩與回饋，並且熱愛鄉土、關懷世界的人。 

就像在家教育孩子的母親曾意婷形容的：「孩子就像一棵樹，需要父母的幫助，自小教導他順服，天天開啟他領悟，實在是含辛茹苦，有時也愁雲密佈，為要奠定他基礎，在家自學是我路……」儘管每位父母的動機不盡相同，但希望孩子好的心意，卻是有志一同。 

孩子自己的意願呢？「上學很無聊！」一開始被學校要求每週上半天學的陳宥瑄說。小四開始在家自學的高存誠，每星期有半天回學校上自然和數學，被問起上學好？還是在家好？總是回答：「都很好！」 

對在家自學的家長來說，學校教育難道一無可取？ 

高瑋謙引述五十年前教育家葉聖陶所言，認為學校教育是「以智毀德、以智毀體、以試毀智」。高瑋謙說，如今社會的亂象皆因缺乏文化教養而起，而新式教育卻越來越遠離文化教養。 

「慕真在家教育協會」秘書長黃夏成則形容現在的學校教育是「缺德教育」。他認為，國民教育階段是孩童知識的啟蒙期，也是人格成長的關鍵期，符合時代需要的知識與觀念，以及正面積極的教導方式，對孩童的身心健康極為重要。 

除了對學校道德教育不足感到憂心外，對於學校的教育形式、內容，部分家長也有不同的看法。 

「現今教育沒有在適當時機教孩子適當的東西，」高瑋謙認為，這種教育體制下教出來的孩子，「小時候好像贏了全世界，實際上卻輸了一輩子。」 

黃夏成則主張多元、均衡的身心靈全人教育。然而，大班制、統一教材、進度一致，以及分數評量為主的學校教育體制，造成學習效益普遍低落，更遑論全人教育。因此，他認為家庭才是全人教育最基本、關鍵的基地，「唯有在生活中教導，才是最接近真實的教育方式，才能恢復教育與生活、生命的關係。」 

拾古傳家 

值得注意的是，不少在家教育者都選擇讓孩子讀經。 

民國元年，公立小學與中學廢除讀經課程，自此，閱讀古代經典成了大學中文系的專科，一般人少有機會和意願接觸。如今多位在家教育的家長要孩子放棄主流教育，「走回頭路」勤讀經典，讓許多人感到匪夷所思。兒童讀經的用意究竟何在？ 

「不讀經典的後果，便少了孔子與老子的『觀』，去看到人生的真情與世界的真相；也定不住每一個人可以認同與歸屬的『道』，一生價值美好的『名』也因而失落，」中央大學中文所及哲學研究所教授王邦雄呼籲現代人要找回經典的智慧。 

推廣讀經不遺餘力的台中師院語文教育系副教授王財貴，不僅成立「華山書院讀經推廣中心」，在「教育基本法」通過實施後，更積極鼓勵讀經兒童在家自學。王財貴認為，語文智慧是一切智慧之本，其他如數理、空間、人際、內省等智慧都可以由語文能力帶動起來。而十三歲之前是語文智能發展的關鍵期，時機錯過，將永不再現。 

部分認同此一教育理念的家長，唯恐孩子錯過了黃金時期，毅然決然為孩子申請在家自學，高瑋謙、呂基華夫妻就是這樣的例子。他們不願意孩子到學校去「浪費時間」，趕緊幫小四的兒子申請在家自學。 

「父母這樣辛辛苦苦為的是什麼？還不是望子成龍？」任教於師大附中的高瑋謙說，現在讓孩子讀經是希望他不輸在起跑點上，將來國中、高中會越來越輕鬆。 

推己及人，為了讓更多人知道讀經的好處，也為了讓兒子有共讀的友伴，呂基華在溫州街主持了一個讀經班，課程安排以經典教育為主，才藝教育和學校課程為輔。經典教育的教材包括：《論語》、《孟子》、《大學》、《中庸》、《老子》、《莊子》、《詩經》、《禮記》、《唐詩三百首》、《聖經》、《莎士比亞》，與柏拉圖《對話錄》等中西經典名著。 

也是生活態度 

實施「非學校型態實驗教育」的家庭中，基督教家庭的比例甚高。對「慕真在家教育協會」中六十個在家教育的家庭而言，在家自學不僅是一種教育方式，更是一種生活態度。 

他們相信，教養子女是神託付給父母的天職，不應由政府或學校擔負所有的責任。因此，慕真在家教育協會鼓勵父母在不違背政府法令的原則下，全職在家教育自己的孩子。黃夏成指出，傳統制式的「生產線教育工廠」，無法滿足個別生命成長的需要，二十一世紀的孩子，需要「量身定做」的教育。 

民國八十九年，慕真正式由在家教育團契登記為協會，理事長范壽康、馬卓群夫婦表示，在家教育不光是「留孩子在家裡念書」，而是「全家人一起活出主耶穌的樣式」。他們視在家教育為一種生活革新運動，希望能為國家社會注入正面積極的影響力。 

「我們一家人已經有四、五年不曾買過一件新衣服，」黃夏成說，因為在家教育的家庭只有一份薪水，因此每一分錢都要花在刀口上，非必要絕不浪費。 

在教育理念上，慕真講求「身教」與「學習型家庭」。黃夏成指出，「父母是第一對學生，子女是學弟妹，」慕真在家教育協會將各地的在家教育家庭組成「學習小組」，提供教材，並舉行定期聚會，教導家長們用「統整」的概念，以一個主題將不同領域的知識整合起來教導孩子。 

自己的孩子自己教？ 

根據西門國小校長方慧琴的調查研究指出，「在家教育的確具備了教育即生活、學習型家庭、親子關係親密、個別化、適性化教育等等學校教育所缺乏的優點，」但在家教育與主流價值不同，也引發不少疑慮和討論。 

一位小學老師說：「學校教育在功能上是積極正向的，我無法接受有人認為他們的孩子進到學校一定會受到傷害與凌虐。」 

對於外界質疑在家教育有如將孩子保護在「無菌室」中，可能導致孩子缺乏社會適應能力，在家教育者另有一套看法。 

「兒童在人格形塑的階段當然應該要保護，」高瑋謙說，等到孩子信心和抵抗力足夠了，才能反過來善化社會，而不是被社會同化。 

「所謂的群育只是一種模糊的想法，」黃夏成認為，在台灣高密度的生活環境下，人不可能與群體隔離。更何況學校中同齡的孩子在一起，是一種和社會現實脫節的狀況，「學校的學生才需要適應社會，」他說。 

此外，「非專業」的父母是否有足夠能力教導自己的孩子？更是一般人對在家教育最大的疑惑。 

「不是先具備什麼，而是帶著孩子走，碰到任何困難與孩子一起面對，」呂基華認為，只要有正確的心態，在家教育人人可為。「其實，父母只要引發孩子的學習動力就成功了，」她說。 

也有人懷疑家長們的動機，認為他們有某種宗教或意識型態上的「偏執」與「狂熱」。 

教女兒讀佛經、四書五經的陳謝祺，遭遇的阻力就不小，家人、親友、學校、輿論似乎都對他質疑，「讓孩子學佛就已經很奇怪了，更何況沒有去學校上學，」他說。面對外界的質疑，陳謝祺的信心絲毫不曾動搖，他堅定的認為，自己帶孩子走的是一條正確的路。 

不過他坦承，同時扮演父親和老師的角色，確實不易，「古代易子而教，唯恐自己過於嚴厲，難免『傷恩』，」陳謝祺說，扮演雙重角色只是暫時階段，最終他要為女兒找到一位高明的老師。 

根據方慧琴的調查研究顯示，在家自行教育的主要教學者是母親，每天正式上課的時間大部分為四到五小時。母親要同時扮演教師、家長，身兼數職的情況下，難免有些力不從心。 

黃夏成綜合各家的經驗，歸納出些警訊，包括：父母累垮了、忽略全人發展的均衡性、缺乏自律造成拖延、難以在「有彈性」和「持之以恆」間取得平衡，以及無法在「過多支援」和「過於孤單」間取得平衡等等，提醒在家教育者小心防範。 

不瞭解、預設立場，是一般人面對「與眾不同」者容易產生的偏見，抱著好奇與不解的心情參與在家自學訪視工作的方慧琴，經過到府深入瞭解後，不禁敬佩之心油然而生。 

「有緣與他們認識，瞭解很不一樣的『老師』和很不一樣的『父母』，心中有很大的感動，」方慧琴說。 

夢裡也會笑 

雖然在家教育漸被肯定，但「非學校型態實驗教育」仍有許多盲點待克服。 

「教育基本法」公佈實施後，目前已有十五個縣市擬有「非學校型態實驗教育」相關辦法，只要家長研擬教育計畫書，依法向學校提出申請，通過審核即可。但黃夏成指出，許多縣市至今空有辦法，行政體系仍未建立，甚至還有學校未曾聽聞，或認為此辦法不可行。 

負責台北市「非學校型態實驗教育」業務的教育局第三科股長湯雪娥指出，現行辦法仍不夠周延，對於在家教育沒有提供指導、支援、檢視等應有的協助和規範。她指出，雖然家長非常用心想完成某種教育目標，但仍須要專業介入。 

方慧琴也指出，現行法規並無一套適用於在家自行教育的基本學力測驗辦法，做為供自學兒童隨時回歸校園的依據。 

不過在家教育的家長們並不期待來自體制教育的「指導」，對將來回學校課程的銜接，也多半不擔心。 

陳謝祺坦言，女兒很可能永遠都上不了學，但他不以為意，「與其在別人掌控下，不如回家自己煩惱，」他認為只要培養孩子基礎的能力，女兒將來有能力作學問就行了。

a / an 

一般說到 a/an 我們大多都會簡單的以後面接的noun是不是以 a/e/i/o/u 開頭來作為前面article的判斷使用,但這僅是基本法則,
也不盡然就只有以此5個vowels來作分辨而己.

下面我就解析數個連老師們也不見得全都通曉的用法:

1.當第一個音節的首字母發音為vowel = a/e/i/o/u

(x) I have a earache.
(v) I have an earache.

(x) Bring a umbrella when you come to London. It might rain.
(v) Bring an umbrella when you come to London. It might rain.

若首字母為 a/e/i/o/u 但那並不表示該字的首字母發音為母音

Take an umbrella because a Ukrainian dog lives near there and it is not friendly.
在Ukrainian前的article要用 a 而非 an, 因為這字是以consonant /ju/開始的,不是vowel u.

(x) Do you have an university degree?
(v) Do you have a university degree?

下面列舉其他examples :
        U-boat (潛水艇)
        Ukrainian (烏克蘭人)
        unicorn
   a   unit
        uterus (子宮另一說法)
        UCLA student
        UFO

2. 以不發音h開始的詞前面應該用 an 
For examples : 

        honest effort
        hour
 an  honor
        heir
        honorable

但以下為有發音的h的詞，則要用 a
a historic event
a hot sun

3. 縮寫詞是以字母 F/H/L/M/N/R/S/X , 要用 an , 這８個consonant字母是以vowel發音開始
For examples :

an FBI agent
an MBA degree
an X-ray machine
ps. 這是很多人都會忽略省略認為應該要用 a 的詞,其實卻是要用 an 才正確

4. 數字的使用 = 如數字是以vowel發音開始的, 則要用 an 
For example : 

an 8-hour day (eight)
an 18-year-old virgin (eighteen)
an 85 mph wind (eighty-five)
an 11 a.m. meeting (eleven)

ps.記住,用 a 或用 an , keypoint是在於vowel 發音或consonant 發音,而不是vowel 字母或consonant 字母

6. 當與countable noun連接時, 可使用 a/an

(v) A hospital is a place where sick people are cared for.

(v) Amanda went to a hospital for a pap smear and a mammorgram this morning. 指去了一家醫院
(v) Amanda went to the hospital for a pap smear and a mammorgram this morning. 指去了一家常去或特別指定的某一家醫院, 說話的人跟聽話的人都知道在說哪一家

(x) It's only about ten-minute walk.
(v) It's only about a ten-minute walk.
walk 可作countable, 如 : 
take a walk
have a walk
go for a walk

雖然意思都是工作,也都是noun
但卻有著不同的意思

 work : uncountable / 非指職業, 而是指花勞力做的事, 辛苦的工作, 今天作了一個work, 明天或下次會再面臨到另一個

 job : countable, 是指你的 daily routine = occupation

 used to : It means something happened in the past oftenly, always, almost; somehting happened before but never at present or in the future again.

＊不可將 used to 用在過去式 = 不可寫成 use to

(x) I use to run five miles a day, but now I walk seven.
(v) I used to run five miles a day, but now I walk seven.

More examples : 

 When we were little, we used to play hide 'n seek almost every night.
--> It means : 我們現在不再玩了

 I used to be the best player of table tennis.
--> It means : 我現在不再是最厲害的了

 Negative 的用法 : For example : 我不曾每天早上去散步
American English : 
--> I didn't use to walk every morning. 使用過去式
British English : 
--> I usedn't to walk every morning. 使用過去完成式 (我不建議學這個)　


 get(be) used to : It means something you do has become kinda your own habit. It adds noun or V-ing after to. used is as adjective here. 

(x) You will soon get use to Boston's traffic.
(v) You will soon get used to Boston's traffic.

(x) Amy is not used to drive on the left-hand side of the road.
(v) Amy is not used to driving on the left-hand side of the road.

  Kate is not used to being criticized.
--> 凱特不習慣被人批評

 I am bleary-eyed and my brain feels tired. I am not used to working late.
--> 我睡眼惺忪，頭快爆掉．我實在不習慣熬夜工作．

 She will soon get used to Western Food.
--> 她很快就會習慣西方食物了

我的 Watermelon 班今年要從大班畢業了
我們也正在如火如茶的進行 graduation show 的rehearsal
今年的show叫 Apple Dumpling ..... 想當耳是英文劇

總共有5 scenes
我們現在已完成了其中 3 scenes
其中大家最熟的是 ACT 1 

我的教法是把這個故事先說給小朋友聽
當然以我的教法是不會把台詞先印出來讓他們背的
在把故事說完後就開始作 role play了
我就開始演給小朋友們看
然後大家再一起演...........
我讓每個人都能朗朗上口全部的台詞
這樣要時若臨時有人出槌
也才能迅速作back-up

你可以看到當第一及第三個小朋友在講台詞時
中間的那位小妹妹的嘴也在不停動喔
她只是沒出到聲音
她可也是會別人的台詞的呢

昨天我們去參觀他們未來即將升上的小一的國民小學

大家都很興奮也很期待

我的手被Tiffany 拉著, 用英語跟我輕鬆的在交談

Tiffany : Amanda, will I go to this school in September? 
Amanda : No. Actually you will attend to another famous one in CBD of Taipei.
Tiffany : What is CBD? Is it very close here? 
Amanda : Yeah, kinda. CBD means the Central Business District, an area that is equivalent to downtown. Do you know "downtown" ? 
Tiffany : Yes, I know, you said before. So where are we now? 
Amanda : Now we are at 2nd floor. Which is the classrooms for 1st grade.
Tiffany : How about 3rd floor? (在這裡, 她自然而然的用了 3rd = third, 真是令人吃驚的英語口語能力, 出自於一個五歲小孩身上) 
Amanda : We won't go there today. There're the classrooms for high level, such as your cousin Mena, she is grade 4 now, isn't she? 
Tiffany : Yes. You see, Amanda, here is "Library" ! (我十分開心她看到中文圖書室三字,就迫不及待要跟我介紹, 因她怕我看不懂中文字......我們班小孩幾乎從未聽我講中文,我們向來以全英語交談 )
Amanda : OH, that's impressive, Tiffany. Thanks! 

總之, 我們昨天去參觀了這所國民小學, 也很開心的在他們的playground餵了不少蚊子. 我心中不免有點小感傷, 這一班, 我帶了一年, 一年耶......跟他們由他們的破英文,到現在大家都能用average的水準跟我交談, 作很平常的聊天. 

人家都說每班的孩子都有老師的個性, 
至於我們班小朋友的個性呢? 
套一句某位留美家長的話 : 自信心十足, 個性開朗積極, 非常的落落大方
那不就在講我  ? 
沒啦.... 不過園長跟我講我帶這一班以前, 他們都很害羞內向, 講到英文就吱吱唔唔....

合成拼音教學


英國政府在經過長期實驗研究後，在政策上已明文規定從2006年九月起，所有學校都要實施合成拼音教學，以有效培養學生的閱讀能力，許多家長都已開始注意此學習法，這樣的學習拼音方式，將會帶給所有學生在學習英文閱讀及書寫上極大的助益！


合成拼音其“合成”的意思是指：將發音連起來讀，也就是教導孩子即使他還不認識一個生字，卻能輕易的藉拼音技巧先將此字唸出來，這是一個好的閱讀者所須具備的能力。


英國政府建議鼓勵所有父母在家要常常唸書給孩子聽，因為這樣可以培養孩子的閱讀興趣，增進他們的字彙語言能力、想像力及理解力。

不過光是如此，並不能使孩子能真正具備獨立閱讀的能力，有些孩子天生就有好的視覺記憶力，並且能自然的聽出單字裡的個別發音(例如他們可以聽到在tap和 hot兩個字裡都有t的發音，一個在字首一個在字尾，而這種發音就是“t”這個寫法)進而達到自我學習拼音技巧的理想狀態；但像這樣的孩子畢竟是少數，大部分的孩子都是需要經過明確的指導、循序漸進的學習才能具備閱讀能力。


由於英文特定的拼音方式比德、義和西班牙文等還要困難，所以更要用合成拼音的方式來學習。要孩子一次就學會所有發音是不可能的，應該要從最簡單的基礎練習，慢慢延伸至較複雜的拼音技巧，按著有系統的教導一步步教授孩子合成拼音的規則。


Jolly Phonics(www.jollylearning.co.uk)就是以這樣循序漸進的方式來教學，在最開始時先教孩子最簡單的s,a,t,i,p,n 的發音後，便鼓勵孩子用這少數的字母開始作最基本的拼音練習：像是s-a-t(sat), t-a-p(tap),pin, tip, pat等(*在此階段教導孩子最好先強調字母的發音更勝於字母的名稱)熟悉這幾個最先的字母拼音之後，再增加新的字母發音便可再組合成更多的英文單字，記得要慎選單字讓孩子作拼音的練習，這些字都必須是包含孩子已經確實學過的發音，因為這樣才能建立其自信心，學會26個字母發音後孩子就大約會讀三百多個字了。


但是所有的兒童讀物裡至少有好幾千個單字，如果光只會26個字母發音根本是不夠的，因為英文雖只有26個字母，卻有著40多種不同的發音，也就是因為它有許多由2個字母所組成的特別發音：像是ee(see), oa(soap), ou(out), er(letter), ng(ring), sh(wish)等，這些就是所謂的二合字母，老師一旦教了一種二合字母發音，就應該讓孩子多練習拼有此發音的單字：如seed,peep, meet, see, leeks, deep, need, feet, seen等。

以下所安排的每一組發音可以幫助孩子由基礎開始以漸進方式認識英文的每

發音：

當孩子已學會每個發音並具備拼音技巧，就在你要開始讓他們獨立閱讀之前還需先花一些時間教他們認識一些在書裡常常出現的基本常用字，而很困難的是這些字通常是無法按正常拼音規則來拼出的字，因它們的母音發音和正常發音不同：像I, the, he, was, to, you等等，所以這些字叫做不規則拼音，我們稱它們為搗蛋字Tricky Words，這些字必需特別加以學習記憶並儲存在腦海裡，當孩子熟悉這些字之後它們就再也不能在書裡面“搗蛋”了，閱讀也就會順暢又容易。


為孩子選擇初步閱讀的書籍需相當謹慎，你所選的必須是符合他們的拼音程度內容也須是容易理解的，這樣才能不斷建立起自信心；還有就是當孩子遇到不認識的字時，老師應先主動唸給孩子聽，而盡量不要求他們用猜的，這樣比較不會有挫折感。

在基礎拼音教學的最後階段，學習替代母音的各種寫法也相當重要：例如說 /ai/ 發音除了ai拼法之外， ay (day)和a_e (came)也是相同的/ai/發音，當孩子已具備以上所述之拼音技巧後，自然就有充分的能力來閱讀適合他們年紀的書籍了。


讓我們談談父母親在家該如何幫助孩子呢？從旁給予溫和的支持與引導無疑的會有很大的幫助，除了陪伴孩子複習學校教過的發音之外，字彙的累積也須靠父母平時的教導（媽媽那是什麼？那是貓，英文叫做cat）建議您在教字母發音時，要邊指著英文字母邊發音，這樣能讓孩子輕易的把字母的樣子和其聲音自然的聯想在一起，您會發現教孩子發音比教他們認顏色還容易的多呢，但也有些孩子本身對把發音拼起來讀感到困難，這時父母就須有更大的耐心，陪孩子慢慢練習，有時可藉圖片來輔助學習(你可一邊指著圖片問孩子說：你有沒有看到d-o-g dog、 sh-ee-p sheep…)讓孩子無壓力的學，您會發現在耐心的引導孩子的過程中，孩子很可能忽然間就會領悟到拼音的技巧，一旦他學會拼音的要領和感覺之後，就能順暢的增加更多拼字練習…

第一次上課上到覺得自己放空了

感覺到自己的熱情不再

工作的時候也不再有樂趣

莫由來的倦勤

是到了頂點嗎

是自己的滿腔熱血已變冷了嗎

我也才在二月底才度假回來啊

現在回來快一個月了

是在倦個什麼

學校的部份

我沒有留戀

也不想換學校教

整體來說

應該說是我不想教了

根本就是全腦袋放空

日子這樣過這樣過

放心啦

過了週末會好多的

所以自從婚後就很少很少再去到任何美術館或博物館去看任何 Art 的活動 

其實 J 先生也不是不愛好藝術, 他可是去過世界的四大博物館呢!

實在是不知要笑還是要哭, 
因為這表示 Amanda 的生活太充實了 瘋
完全沒閒到一篇篇的寫每件在我生活中發生的有趣或有意義的事
PS. 基本上, 我是希望每一篇發表的 log 都不要是流水帳, 
那種我的 everyday life 也不會有人有興趣啦!
可是.... 可是.... 可是我的生活中真的有很多有趣的事, 它們都值得被記錄, 
如果我還沒 post 上來, 那只有 2 種可能 ..... 

1.我太忙了 .... (今年要唸很多書 .... 要參加很多活動, 需要很多 prayer!)
2.我太懶了 .....(對 blog 這件事, 我的體悟是 .... 要有很多空閒時間的人才能好好經營! 蒜)

在我受洗成為基督徒之前是對萬聖節沒麼感覺
成為基督徒之後是對萬聖節沒什好感
但因為工作的需求, 我每年都會教到 Halloween, 
在工作上, Halloween 是一個主題的教學
對我而言, this is my job, 
對小朋友而言, I am the one to have fun with! Yeah! 愕

不過我的心情卻是輕快無比
3月那時離職也是輕快,但是是離開後的輕快
8月的現在回來JOY,卻是回鍋的輕快, 樂

Same skul, same team, same schedule, same kids!
I love JOY!

有時候覺得自己真的很蒙福
對我而言,工作這件事從來都不是一個問題
沒有找不到工作的困境曾在我的生命中出現
只有推不掉及推不完的機會 though

Not bad mood or upset, I pointed what I had - IRRITATION!

So far I still can find some fun with kids from my school, see these smiles, they are innocent, pure and adorable.

I enjoy it, very!

Let's see some crafts that I complished with my kids.


Calss : Watermelon 2005 - the graduated class of kindergarten I have this year

Magnet Card : You can put some paper magnets on the back of this card then write some poem sentences or words to Mom, also you can draw or color some pattern or graphics on sides. Then when it's completed, you can choose to paste on your white board or fridge. It's very nice and creavite, isn't it?

There're 7 kids in this class and they are intelligent and very hyperenthusciastic all the time.  (Am I a lucky or unlucky teacher?)

First one is Tom, he is kind of special that I need to introduce him a little here before I show you his card. He had no idea about English even though he's learned English around 2 years but since he had me, I mean since he joined my class last year, he improves himself a lot for a big steps. You can see the handwriting of his which is neat and tidy. Quite a big shock to me! It also means : He listens to me, in actuality. Here is his card to mom :

但談起共同的興趣 - 英語教學 的點點滴滴
都欲罷不能
也都免除了袪生生的陌生感

Lillian (新手老師,加油!), 

Kelly (清秀可人剛懷孕不久的媽咪),

萬人迷Febie (我想我有看到你笑的時候偷偷跑出來的虎牙)


這樣的組合也真要感謝主的安排
在不同領域各有所長的我們
也在此分享我們各自的優勢
並且尋求各自協助我們各自的weak point!

It's GREAT!

我覺得我的專長是在Reading跟Grammar
因為自己知道自己的解釋能力還可以
我也能積極感受到我小朋友的comprehension是高於我校其他同年齡班級的

我很喜愛說故事
帶動肢體
以及把故書以唱的方式表達
下回可demo唱書或說書

但是
Lillian有很清晰的頭腦,感覺你如果從政應該會是很棒的議員或立委，教學的部份只要你願意下功夫，You will be GREAT, too!
Kelly有柔柔穩靜的氣質,感覺小朋友能靜靜聽你說話,溫柔萬歲(這就是我的超不足的地方，我有時候也會柔一下啦~)
Febie則是有讓眾人把焦點目光停留在她身上的本事,是天生的老師我感覺，當然Febie的資源及教學技巧，還有，跟我一樣十分十的熱誠，是她長期投入自己的努力成果！

我很喜歡大家
要多多碰面喔～
可惜啦Febie要去日本，但沒關係一年後我們會再見？！你會回台灣嗎？ 要啦要啦～You must come back here　不然要換我去南非了，一去至少三年ㄝ


因為老爺及自己工作的關係
我認識許許多多的外籍老師
其中不乏可以讓你 2 thumbs up的老師
但是可惜的是
這些來台撈金的外籍人士裡
十之八九都是普普而己
甚或混的居多

我下次有空再post上我家老爺教學的樣子
他就屬於能教的老師之一

還有誰來提醒我下次寫一下我的外籍鄰居們的教學相關的東東？？

在美術方面都很有各自的創意
尤其在上色
更是他們極喜愛的一項活動

我大概每隔一天會讓他們有三十分鐘的Coloring time
所以一週約有三天可讓他們恣意跟我領取他們喜愛的圖案來上色
遇到節慶時
我們就會以節慶為主題來作Coloring activity
