Ted Noten's 10 Commandments

1. Never start your art or design academy education before age 25, or it will
be a waste of time and terribly confusing. Make sure to have your personal
troubles in order first, so that you can focus on art or design truly in
terms of content. Also, you will be more able to resist the terror of
teachers.

2. If the first commandment is coming too late for you, be sure to go travel
after graduation. A cheap and fantastic journey is the one by train from
Shanghai to Moscow. Never do the reverse trajectory, for that train is
crowded with organized groups. The journey can be completed in seven days and
nights (for diehards and self-tortourers), but take your time and get off the
train every now and then. Travel alone.


4. If you fully identify with the artist's karma and are very serious about
it (you better don't), read the Briefe an einen jungen dichter by Rainer
Maria Rilke. This will make you serene and provide the damned patience you
desperately need as artist, initially to get some hold on your identity in
the field and, later on, to be able to deal with the assured lack of
recognition. If you really want to drown in the pathetical, read Die Leiden
des jungen Werthers by Goethe.

5. Fill out that request for a starter's stipend from the Netherlands
Foundation of Visual Arts, Design and Architecture as arrogantly and wrongly
as possible, the best thing that career-wise ever happened to me---in
hindsignt---is the rejection to my request, the first year after graduating
from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. How could it be possible that I, who
graduated with honors, received no for an answer! Letter of protest, total
outrage. But what energy and what power after two weeks of depressiong and
fatalistic drunkenness---what colossal motivation to prove myself!

6. Never enter in a love relationship with a colleague(or, at least never do
projects together). It is impossible; it will ruin your love.

7. For a certain while, we all need to have a point of reference within the
field---an example, a godfather, an idol---to shape our own frame of
reference. Fine. But make sure that on e day you're finished with him or her,
meaning that your work has become better than his or hers. By then you'll
have shown enough gratitude already.

8. Each day go for a walk as if you were a wise old man or a wondering
child---it empties your head and opens up room for all those ideas, insights
and strategies(which are crucial to our field today).

9. For at least the first five years of your career do not let yourself be
forced by some gallery, institute, platform or whatever to sign an ownership
contract of your work. Wait to see which way the wind blows and only start
signing things after you have sharpened your pencil points---so you can sign
on your own terms.

10. My favorite films: The Karate Kid (Part 1---never go see part 2 etcetera,
always a poor rehash, Paris Texas by Win Wenders, one of Cicciolina's porn
films.

第四條：
各用 10% 的精力涉足十門設計學科，不如用 100% 的精力涉足於一門學科；
Trying ten design fields simultaneously but badly is worst than concentrating on one field and master it;

第五條：
不可將自己都認為有問題的作品向公眾發表；
Be professional and not to release any art works that you don't like;

第六條：
不可因低價商業專案，而放低對作品的要求；
Not to lower the quality in view of low business value of an art work;

第七條：
不可憑主觀意識評價他人作品；不可人云亦云；
Not to criticize other's artwork merely on the ground of one's preferences nor just replicate comment from someone;

第八條：
不可閉門造車；瞭解一些歷史、哲學和人文，將對你的作品大有好處；
Not to create artwork without any ground. Great works usually come from the understanding of the culture, history and philosophy;

第九條：
不論身份高低，須保持歉虛的態度；
Keep yourself modest to people, no matter you are just a novice or a master;

第十條：
永遠堅信：設計可以拯救你的國家，可以改變世界。
Always believe that design can save your country and change the world.

這部電影由Catherine Owens導演，Mark Pellington協助，內容從U2拜訪南美洲的暈眩之旅開始，預計在今年2月23日以RealD 3D電影的方式上映。

長期與U2現場視覺合作的專家Owens表示，這次運用大型電影螢幕與3D技術完整呈現演唱會全貌2的終極挑戰表現，但他認為結果絕對會讓所有觀眾震驚。這是無法和一般音樂電影做比較的，上一分鐘您是和樂團在舞台上，下一分鐘您將在演唱會的後面，這就像是一隻飛行的小鳥在音樂會現場環繞飛行，真是非常震撼，只有真正體驗過的人才能理解這種震撼程度。

這部2演唱會的3D立體電影是由洛杉磯3alitygital公司所製作，livierWicki製片，Carl Glanville配樂(幫U2配樂不計其數的大師)3D攝影主任是Peter Anderson，一般攝影主任是Tom Krueger，日前已經在墨西哥、巴西、智利、阿根廷等地撼動過許多人的音樂心，2008年2月即將正式在台灣與所有歌迷見面，敬請期待。 讓細緻逼真的
