I came across this song
when I read "Lifeboat" in Reader's Digest
(May 2009).
In the article, a couple sang this song when
they were struggling for life in a lifeboat with 29 other people in freezing Antarctic waters. 
It fit the situation perfectly.
An encouraging song indeed.
