It is quite a shock for a seven-year-old to be whisked away from the New York streets to an English stately home and be told he is to inherit a title and a fortune. It is very daunting to have to face such a crotchety and selfish grandfather. But then, little Lord Fauntelroy is a very unusally boy.  

  Little Lord Fauntleroy 是一本簡單，劇情單純的書，書中的角色不外乎是良善的市井之民和稍為邪惡及存心不良的人。我最欣賞小主角Cedric的善良和悲憫的心，而且他更是能謹記幫助過他的人：You know you always remember people who are kind to you。當他時來運轉成為伯爵的唯一繼承人時，他並沒有想到自己的安逸，而是想辦法改善他的一些朋友的景況。也正因為他這份良善感動了他的冷酷無情的祖父，讓祖父有機會重新做人和接納Cedric的母親Dearest。
   這本書的背景橫跨英美兩國，反映了當時社會的貧富懸殊和許多不公平的現象。Cedric以他小小年紀打動了祖父的心，讓世界多一點人性，少一點冷漠，
人間也更有情。
    Cedric是個令人疼愛的角色！
