昨晚看了父親帶來的舊報紙，我的生活跟這篇文章描述的約有80%相像。
我會煮一杯米一人份套餐，喜歡看Henry's and Ralphs DM、各種購物目錄，愛用amazon與各式網路購物，netflix的郵寄電影，自己去買菜，挑兩粒洋蔥挑半天，最喜歡趁室友白天出門時一個人窩在家讀書，喜歡雨天(可惜SD一年沒下幾天)一個人泡一大壺茶，一個人練瑜珈，一個人上健身房，除了某人外，只跟兩隻貓說話。

不為人知的宅女生活 (劉梓潔)

妳是個宅女，這是命。

跟我說這句話的朋友是個宅男。他用MSN把這句神諭丟給我。我們稍早一點的對話是，他打上，今天只說了一句話：「一個鍋燒麵。」我回他，我今天自己煮麵所以一句話都沒說。

是的。宅女自己煮麵並直接用單柄小鍋子吃麵，因為反正一個人吃，沒必要多洗一個碗。宅女喜歡看大潤發和家樂福的DM，會花一小時坐兩段公車去IKEA，買一塊砧板，再花一小時坐兩段公車回家。宅女一個人看電影，進場前會祈禱兩邊座位不要坐人。

宅女最好的朋友叫宅配。

她們是牛爾愛美網和博客來網路書店的忠實買家，不過你以為她們就不出門嗎？宅女花在離家最近的屈臣氏、康是美和頂好超市的時間可能比家庭主婦還長，很清楚樓下的全家便利商店什麼飲料第二罐六折。

宅女就算偶爾去酒吧的lady’s night也會變成幫姊妹們顧包包自己跟自己默默乾掉一杯又一杯調酒的那個人。

宅女喜歡貓，一次養兩隻，因為牠們會自己玩。宅女的習癖莫衷一是，因人而異，唯一的共同點是，她們不怕孤獨，喜歡一個人生活。

Hundreds of Gay Couples Wed in California

SAN FRANCISCO — With a quiet pride and a sense of history, hundreds of gay and lesbian couples across California wed on Tuesday, giving a human face to a landmark court decision and a powerful opening salvo in what is expected to be a bruising fall campaign here over the issue of same-sex marriage.

The marriages here and in many counties began just after 8 a.m. Pacific time, with the opening of the clerk’s office. But unlike 2004, when San Francisco broke state law to wed thousands of gay couples in a mad rush, many of Tuesday’s ceremonies had a sense of calm and permanence for gay newlyweds.

到這暑假就整整兩年沒回台灣了，這倒是人生至此頭一次這麼久沒回去，以前即便人在台灣，也會一年訪美一次(沒辦法，是團聚)，更別說是更久以前了(參見候鳥)。我一直很想念台灣，就像在台時有時仍會想念美國的日子。是空間、是食物、是朋友、還是味道，總是在海峽的一端遙望。

那日跟遠在東岸B城唸書的前同事聊天，她說某日看Lost in Translation，裡面一個東京的街景很像西門町，非常懷念，我說人在國外總會在生活片段裡找熟悉家鄉的熟悉的身影，會特地去看一些台灣拍的影片，只為了看街道風景。

well,一則NY times寫台北的遊記。雖然他介紹的地方消費水平都很高，而且主要針對外國族群，我還是喜歡公館師大還有各大夜市，但人在國外，一些細微關於台灣的描寫，仍舊讓我籠罩在濃稠的nostalgic mood。

昨天晚上聚餐，跟芝大畢業的香港教授聊起，他問我們是否有看過白先勇寫的短篇「芝加哥之死」，下午讀書時在網路找來看。本想轉寄給某人(純粹是因為芝加哥喔)，想了想，還是貼在網誌上記錄吧。

許多人應該看過柯裕棻的〈獨語〉，對留學生活孤獨的描寫，但這篇，看了格外有感覺，可能是因為芝加哥，也可能是因為大學時期經歷了幾件留學生自殺的事，一位是歐洲來的物理助教，他在國際學生宿舍用牛仔褲上吊自殺，死了兩星期沒人發現，直到他的父母打電話找他不著，請宿舍管理員代為尋找，學生報紙上寫著，屍體爛了，臭味四溢。

拜科技之賜，現在即使隻身異國，與「家」的聯繫早已方便許多，雖然實體距離沒變，心靈上的距離或許近很多，skype, ppstream..各式網路報紙 etc etc。想到早期來美的華人如何聯繫自己與家鄉，我想我們真的幸運太多了（雖然二者間所處的社會/時代脈絡，其實差很多）。離散的概念是否早已轉變？我，還是平實的生活。

我呢，都好，忙課業，忙生活。下下週要搬家了。

A further info on Howl, the poem by Ginsberg that I wrote about not long ago.  You can hear Ginsberg's reading of Howl in Chicago 1959 if you click on the link to pacifica.org.  It was once banned to broadcast the reading of the poem on radio because of the "obscene" materials it contained.

I am a nostalgic flower child.

 (ps. there are many "buzz" words in the poem for Benny or whoever is interested~hee.  He revised the poem a bit and added more flamboyance.  I love it!  The recording is quite long though, about one and half hrs.)

Dame Mary Douglas was one of the outstanding British social anthropologists of the latter half of the 20th century. Her books, Purity and Danger (1966) and Natural Symbols (1970), were seminal for anthropologists and were widely appreciated in other disciplines.

Kurt Vonnegut, Counterculture’s Novelist, Dies

Kurt Vonnegut,
whose dark comic talent and urgent moral vision in novels like
“Slaughterhouse-Five,” “Cat’s Cradle” and “God Bless You, Mr.
Rosewater” caught the temper of his times and the imagination of a
generation, died last night in Manhattan. He was 84 and had homes in
Manhattan and in Sagaponack on Long Island.

Mr. Vonnegut suffered irreversible brain injuries as a result of a
fall several weeks ago, according to his wife, Jill Krementz.

今天去了學校一趟，到書店和圖書館pick up這學期要用的書、到信箱拿假期間寄來的書籍和郵件、跟幾位同學一塊吃飯catch up，回家後一陣緊張莫名，肩膀緊繃，大力呼吸，新學期得加倍努力。(Quarter制真不是普通的緊湊，抖）
