This is what Wang Zaixi, Vice-Minister of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, had to say with respect to a Taiwanese reporter's inquiries regarding the politics of the panda bears that China is trying to give as a "gift" to Taiwan:

Notice that he doesn't mention Chen Shuibian, the President of the ROC, because, for one thing, it is customary to say someone's title after their name, and in this case, the official title would be President of the Republic of China, which is obviously something that could never and will never escape from Wang's lips. Of course, China has a purpose here--they are actively attempting to win hearts and minds away from Chen Shuibian and the DPP and towards the KMT, which can now be called 中國國民黨, which to my mind is pretty amazing. Of course, nothing is that amazing if you believe that China will do all kinds of unthought of ideological twister moves in order to advance its goals in Taiwan.
