Dear future me,

I hope everything is better there with you than it is now with me. Unrealistically maybe, I do keep faith in better future though I try to be cynical and pessimistic. Life is never easy. And the idea of getting old can turn all tomorrows into the worst nightmares. However, when I said I believed in future, I did not mean to imply any possibility of progress in the world. But me. Or you. It is always the possibility of our improvement that I expect.

What are you doing there? Are you playing piano as I have promised to? Can you still be moved to tears as you watch a romantic comedy? Are you writing? Are you acquiring knowledge even though you doubt its veracity? Do you have someone to love? Are you loved in return? Have you a friend? Do you talk to yourself? Are you still curious about the world even when it disappoints you most? Do you know what you are living for?

Don’t you give up, if no happens to be the answer you give to every question listed above. Sometimes I worry about your persistence, but I have never doubted your efforts. There may be no hope for you to make these things right. And I wish I had the chance to see you smile at those things wrong.

Forgive me if I have made mistakes that render your life more challenging. Reply my letter when you know I may like to receive it. Among all that you deserve, I wish you courage, and trust.
