Remembering Tomorrow: From SDS to Life After Capitalism。
Remembering Tomorrow: From SDS to Life After Capitalism
Featuring: Michael Albert, Amy Goodman & Noam Chomsky.
Coinciding with the release of Michael Albert's memoir "Remembering Tomorrow," this meeting of friends, activists, organizers, and interested parties from across generations will share lessons from the past, prospects for the present, and hopes for the future. This afternoon event will feature a dialogue between Michael Albert and Noam Chomsky, facilitated by Amy Goodman of Democracy Now!, followed by respondent student and youth activists from today’s movements. A panel Q&A and discussion with all will close the event. Join us to explore lessons drawn from early days of 60's SDS, anti-war, civil rights and feminist movements to today's student radicalism, alternative media, institution and movement building.
• Michael Albert is a leading critic on political economy, U.S. foreign policy, and mass media. A veteran writer, activist, and MIT student from the 60's, he currently works with Z Magazine and the website ZNet, both of which he co-founded. The author of seventeen books, including Parecon: Life After Capitalism and Realizing Hope, Life Beyond Capitalism, Albert lives in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
• Noam Chomsky is the author of numerous bestselling political works, from American Power and the New Mandarins in the 1960s to 9-11 in 2001. A professor of Linguistics and Philosophy at MIT, he is widely credited with having revolutionized modern linguistics. His most recent book is Failed States: The Abuse of Power and the Assault on Democracy. He lives outside Boston, Massachusetts.
• Amy Goodman is the host and executive producer of Democracy Now!, a national, daily, independent, award-winning news program airing on over 500 stations across North America. She is co-author of the national best-seller The Exception to the Rulers: Exposing Oily Politicians, War Profiteers, and the Media that Love Them, written with her brother David Goodman.
Join us to strategize and envision efforts to win another world.
