　　1968成立的Deep Purple，與Led Zepplin，Black Sabbath，被並列為硬式搖滾的三大元老，同時也造就了吉他英雄Ritchie Blackmore，相較於Zepplin的藍調為基礎，Sabbath的巫術，死亡崇拜﹔Deep Purple則是將古典元素帶進了搖滾之中。

　　1975年Deep Purple解散，Ritchie Blackmore接著成立Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow，同時也找到魔法師般的主唱Rannie James Dio，他的嗓音或許比不上Robert Plant的勾魂慑魄，也比不上Geoff Tate的音域與技巧，但是卻充滿著一種中古世紀練金術士般的魔法。與Ritchie的吉他音色，技法互相輝映，形成類似雙主吉他的效果。Rainbow Eyes是來自1978年，該團的第四張專輯Long Live Rock 'n' Roll中最後一首曲子。一如Ritchie在Deep Purple的慣例，將弦樂四重奏帶入樂曲的核心。慢板的吉他和絃，加上不時穿插的長笛與小提琴，加上Dio深情的唱法娓娓道出了哀傷的情緒。

　　　　這整張專輯旋律與編排相較於之前的專輯，都來的簡單而樸實，但卻是團員在各自位置發揮的淋漓盡致且平分秋色的一張，同時也是該團評價最好的一張。
