現代科技是一種迷失，特別是在全球化商業機制的運行下，幾乎人們都掉到深不見底的巨大深淵裡；3C產品就是個例子。當年Neil Young在Freedom專輯中憤怒斥責美國社會的用完即棄的消費主義，如今台灣仍是重蹈覆轍。
相機便是其中一個例子。攝影術自西元1826年，法國發明家 Joseph Nicephore Niepce製造出第一張長達八小時曝光時間的照片起，這149年間，不斷在底片材料與乳劑的改良，相機功能的演進，攝影進入非常成熟的階段；直到1975年，早在個人電腦、網際網路與光碟出現之前，柯達公司應用電子研究中心服務的工程師 Steven Sasson 以設計出一台名為電子手持式靜態相機(Handheld Electronic Still Camera) 拍攝出全世界第一張數位影像，於是整個攝影工業與攝影史進入第二次攝影工業革命。
在今天，所有的相機製造商都投入了數位這塊大餅，甚至連德國的徠卡（Lecia）、祿徠（Rollieflex）與哈蘇（Hasselblad）都不例外，因為整個機制都培養了消費者喜新厭舊的消費習慣，因而商品於是更趨近於流行化，若不加緊腳步在商品上的推陳出新，公司便賺不到利潤，為了降低成本，製造更多的產品，來順應潮流的週期，於是大多數的相機的零組件與個人電腦一樣，均不耐用。
由於科技的進步與普及，讓台灣人擁有不只一台以上的相機，使得攝影不再侷限於少數族群；但是攝影背後的意義卻無多少長進，甚至還退步，由於便利，也變得更速食，一道delete的指令，便可將拍壞的影像扔的無影無蹤，也因為便利，也更不重視拍攝的影像，不尊重被攝者的存在。在台灣，四十年前的沙龍攝影，為人詬病，然而今天呢？不過只是類比器材更換成數位的差異，大多數千篇一律而浮濫的美少女人像寫真，仍然是大沙文主義的作祟，僅僅是滿足醉翁之意不在酒的虛榮與樂趣罷了！
去年底，跟同事買了生平第一台便利相機，幾次測試，更發現其便利性，也更容易深入影像背後的意義，在今天一片數位的浪潮下，還是見到有些日系商對於便利底片相機的堅持。這台Fujifilm旗下新產品Natura Classica所標榜的是NP（Natural Photo）技術，即使在較微弱的光線下，仍能得到品質良好的照片。以下是它的規格：

底片與黑膠唱片的觀念是一樣的，黑膠的音質是一種平順、溫暖與失真，姑且我們不探討播放黑膠時的氛圍是甜蜜或是懷舊，以技術上的觀點來看，同等價位的CD唱盤與黑膠唱盤，在擴大機、揚聲器與線材等相同的環境下，黑膠音質一定比CD好，因為這牽扯到D/A之間的轉換，數位以0與1的元素微分成無數的小點來逼近平滑的聲音曲線，而這關鍵就在於要分割成多少個點才能等同於曲線的平滑度，完全決定在D/A與取樣頻率的高低，轉換與取樣分割的越精細，越昂貴。另一項很主觀，從黑膠轉移到CD的樂迷普遍會有個狀況，就是對CD音質的不適應，說的白一些，就是太乾淨了，甚至有些銳利，說得抽象些，也就是太物質、機械感，太冷調，也就是少了人的存在；同樣的底片所成像的質感也是一樣，鹵化銀正代表著一種人存在的意義。
而且攝影的最終目的，不也就像文章一樣，在陳述一種論點、心情或詩意，也正表達了人這種物種的情緒與感知，不需要太在乎是什麼樣的筆寫的，能夠很精確的表達作者的意旨，這才是一個作者所必須訓練的目標，一般人往往忽略了最終目的，一味的追求器材上的虛榮，這也是一種迷失，就像用鋼筆或毛筆書寫，不斷地在找尋更昂貴、品質更好的筆，卻忽略了鋼筆與毛筆所表現出不同的技法是一樣的，以不同的工具搭配上不同屬性的文章，並將此工具發揮到極致，這才是應該追求的目標。
人不就該是決定的主體，而非受客體主宰的一種動物嗎？
