(It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp)」,對於熟悉那是啥又能樂在其中的觀眾而言,確實是他們的最愛。 (譯註:原文「a bushel of the magic gold-coated gelded godlings going to...」
The red carpet now had taken on a different hue, a purple tinge.
The source of the colour was not far away. Down the street, spreading its baleful light everywhere, hung a gigantic, vertical, electric-blue neon sign spelling out S C I E N T O L O G Y.
That which is true for you is what you have observed to be true.
The word Scientology literally means "the study of truth." It comes from the Latin word "scio" meaning "knowing in the fullest sense of the word" and the Greek word "logos" meaning "study of."
Scientology is the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, others and all of life. The Scientology religion comprises a body of knowledge extending from certain fundamental truths. Prime among these:
Man is an immortal, spiritual being. His experience extends well beyond a single lifetime. His capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized — and those capabilities can be realized. He is able to not only solve his own problems, accomplish his goals and gain lasting happiness, but also achieve new, higher states of awareness and ability.
In Scientology no one is asked to accept anything as belief or on faith. That which is true for you is what you have observed to be true. An individual discovers for himself that Scientology works by personally applying its principles and observing or experiencing results.
Through Scientology, people all over the world are achieving the long-sought goal of true spiritual release and freedom.
不過我還不是很瞭解"a favourite with the audience who knew what it knew and liked"這句話,究竟中文怎樣翻比較精確哩?為什麼要特別寫"knew what it knew"?

1) a certain soda pop figured prominently.
a certain soda pop figured prominently
2)who left behind tapes, film, photographs, voice recordings and friends with strong memories,
3)he choice was a "hit" with the home team since the film is set in Los Angeles.
On the sidewalk stood hordes of the righteous, some leaning forward like wind-bent grasses, the better to deliver their imprecations against gays and fags to the open windows of the limos - the windows open by order of the security people - creeping toward the Kodak Theater for the 78th Academy Awards. Others held up sturdy, professionally crafted signs expressing the same hatred.
I guess that's how people react against things they don't understand--to fear, to judge, to finally avoid. What presides over their sub-consciousness is the narrow-minded self-centered righteousness thinking they're the ones deserving "love". A city of darkness with people full of dark thinking thinking they're bringing the light to the world without knowing they themselves are the source of shadow.

Annie Proulx
"a favourite with the audience who knew what it knew and liked" 應該有點暗示別的
it = the audience
It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp"觀眾的最愛,但不是大部分那些聽不懂也不喜歡rap的觀眾最愛,不知是諷刺還是我多心了
But which takes more skill, acting a person who strolled the boulevard a few decades ago and who left behind tapes, film, photographs, voice recordings and friends with strong memories, or the construction of characters from imagination and a few cold words on the page? I don't know.
To simon,
To sof,
Heath is better than HSP, but it doesn't mean HSP is worse than Heath.

Brokeback's failing to winning the Oscar Award only redisplays the heterosexual discrimination against gender. It's supposed to win the prize because it sets a touchstone renewing the past rigid tapestry and opening a new horizon of love for the future to come. When the world is so informed by the biased impressions from gay porn movies, Brokeback tells the world that gays are capable of an everlasting love if the surroundings are available. And sometimes the rare homosexual romance even goes deeper than the cheap and average love of heterosexuals. Still, as its title suggests, in the world of vicious hatred towards gays and lesbians, homoes got their backs broken, thus , hard to make a stand.
